Christopher Seabaugh, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) communication operator augment, tosses dirt to be broken up and placed into buckets during a recovery mission in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Oct. 3, 2023. Dirt from the excavated units is placed into buckets and transferred to a screening stationed as U.S. personnel and Lao citizens look for aircraft parts, life support material and possible osseous material. Since 1985, the United States and Lao governments have worked closely together to find and recover unaccounted-for American personnel.
