The Ohio Army National Guard readiness center in Mansfield, Ohio is being memorialized in honor of Lt. Col. Albert L. Allen Jr., who was born and raised in Mansfield. He was drafted into the Army in 1941 to an Ohio National Guard unit in active service at Fort Knox, Ky. Allen retired from the Army Reserve in 1973 as a lieutenant colonel and was active in numerous civic and veterans groups in Mansfield. He died in 2004.
