African Land Forces Summit 2024 participants plant trees

U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Todd R. Wasmund, commanding general, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and Ignatius Lubinda, principal, Livingstone Institute of Business & Engineering Studies, exchange gifts during a tree planting ceremony at the institute in Livingstone, Zambia, April 24, 2024. The ceremony was part of the African Land Forces Summit (ALFS) 2024 and the intent of the tree planting was to demonstrate military leaders’ responsibility to be good stewards of the environment. Sponsored by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff and co-hosted by SETAF-AF and the Zambia Army, ALFS 2024 brings together senior leaders from across Africa and other partner nations, April 22-26 in Livingstone, to solidify relationships, exchange information on current topics of mutual interest and encourage cooperation in addressing challenges. This year’s theme is “Regional solutions to transnational problems.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff. Sgt. Elijah Dority)
