    11th Marine Expeditionary Unit   

    Members of the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force look at their maps to determine the best way to seize their objective during a patrolling exercise here June 12. The purpose of the patrolling exercise was for the JGSDF to train on maneuvering through a land, avoiding the enemy and securing an objective. The training is part of exercise Dawn Blitz, which is a scenario-driven exercise designed to test Navy and Marine Corps forces at the Marine Expeditionary Brigade and Expeditionary Strike Group level, while promoting military-to-military cooperation and interoperability with partnered nations.
