Iron Soldiers from across 1st Armored Division from Fort Bliss, Texas, participate in the division’s annual Torch Week event. Iron Soldiers participate in sporting competitions, demonstrations and celebrations designed to build morale across the units, strengthen family readiness and fortify unit cohesion. The 1st Armored Division's 'Torch Week' is an annual event commemorating the Division's role in the World War II invasion of North Africa in 1942, known as 'Operation Torch,' as well as to celebrate the division's history and honor the everlasting legacy of Iron Soldiers through week-long sporting and morale-boosting events, which promote camaraderie and cohesion throughout the organization.
