U.S. Army Soldiers from the 1st Armored Division take part in the Weapons Station during the Commander’s Cup Challenge at Iron Soldier Field, part of Torch Week at Fort Bliss, Texas, Nov. 7, 2024. In four-person teams, Soldiers demonstrated their proficiency by disassembling, reassembling, and conducting functions checks on the M17 pistol, M4 rifle, and M240B machine gun, showcasing their technical skills and teamwork. The 1st Armored Division's 'Torch Week' is an annual event commemorating the Division's role in the World War II invasion of North Africa in 1942, known as 'Operation Torch,' as well as to celebrate the division's history and honor the everlasting legacy of Iron Soldiers through week-long sporting and morale-boosting events, which promote camaraderie and cohesion throughout the organization.
