The Ex-Houston Dive Ex is a Pacific Fleet-led, PACOM-sponsored bi-lateral diving exercise to survey the USS Houston, a Northampton-class heavy cruiser that was sunk by the Japanese during the World War II battle of Sunda Strait on Feb. 28, 1942. The Houston is also referred as “The Galloping Ghost of the Java Coast.”
