California Army National Guard Soldiers supported firefighting efforts against the wildfires near Napa Valley and Clear Lake.
San Diego County is ablaze as nine fires burn in a 14-square-mile area, fanned by hot, dry air and unusual springtime Santa Ana winds. Marine Corps aircraft and the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton fire department is in coordination with CALFIRE for the potential use of military aircraft pending the wildfire status within San Diego County.
MCIWEST-MCB Camp Pendleton, 3D Marine Air Wing, NRSW, Third Fleet, CAL FIRE, and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department regularly conduct Wild land Firefighting training in order to exercise immediate response actions according to established procedures during a response to a simulated fire event aboard MCB Camp Pendleton.
