Malabar is an annual maritime exercise with the Indian Navy and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF). The objective of Malabar is to enhance naval interoperability the maritime forces and demonstrate U.S. naval presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The exercise will feature both ashore and at-sea training. While ashore, training will include subject matter expert and professional exchanges on carrier strike group operations; maritime patrol and reconnaissance operations; anti-piracy operations; and visit board search and seizure (VBSS) operations.
The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command's Pacific Multi Domain Training and Experimentation Capability (PMTEC) Forward Guam supported multinational forces as they coordinated warfare tactics during Exercise Malabar 2025.
