NORFOLK, VIRGINIA (Nov. 11, 2019)
A crest created to summarize and represent the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis’ (CVN 74) 2018-2019 deployment and homeport change from Bremerton, Washington, to Norfolk, Virginia. The crest was placed on the front of USS John C. Stennis’ cruise book. The globe in the background illustrates that the ship went around the world during their deployment. The blue eagle holding the anchor represents the crew of the ship, while the brown eagle holding the trident represents the lethality of the ship. The banner in the middle says “In Mundo Optimum” meaning “Best in the World” in Latin. The vector-drawing of USS John C. Stennis represents power by showcasing jets launching from the flight deck. The bottom of the crest contains vectored images of locations the ship visited during deployment. (U.S. Navy graphic by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Isabel Birchard)
