5th grade students from Murray Elementary recite the Pledge of Allegiance in their classroom at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Dec. 14, 2023. #PledgeofAllegianceDay is commemorated every year on December 28th which is the day in 1945 when Congress adopted the “The Pledge” into the United States Flag Code. The Pledge of Allegiance is often recited at public events, such as school assemblies, and is also a common part of the daily routine in many schools. It is intended to instill a sense of national pride and unity and to reaffirm the values of democracy and freedom that are central to the American way of life.
