Recruits of Platoon 2084, Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, lunge to the next station during a martial arts endurance course Aug. 15, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Recruits did cardiovascular exercises between each station. The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program is used to help produce physically fit and morally strong Marines. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 18, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
