Staff Sgt. Patrick Zeigler and his son, Liam, enjoy a moment in the sun outside Fort Hood's Survivor Outreach Services building while waiting for the verdict in the court martial of Maj. Nidal Hasan, who was accused of carrying out the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting rampage that killed 13 and wounded 32, Aug. 26, 2013. Zeigler, who was in the building that the shooting took place getting cleared to attend officer candidate school, was shot four times in the incident, including once in the head that necessitated the removal of 20 percent of his brain.
