Ray Matera, Wisconsin adjutant general from 1979 to 1989, watch as Matera's Order of the Sword display is unveiled Aug. 23 at Joint Force Headquarters in Madison, Wis. Matera was the fourth Air National Guard recipient of the Order of the Sword, and is believed to be the first adjutant general to be selected by his noncommissioned officers for the honor.
