Petty Officer 2nd Class Kristopher Rodriguez, aerographer's mate, a native of Baltimore, Md., uses a dew point calculator in the meteorology and oceanography center of the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. Aerographers log weather conditions every half-hour during flight operations and every hour otherwise, then report the conditions to the air traffic controllers. Kitty Hawk is returning to the United States for decommissioning after 47 years of service. The ship will be replaced by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington later this summer.
