Brig. Gen. Paul Kennedy, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, thanks members of the National Society for Earthquake Technology - Nepal for a Vulnerability Tour/Earthquake Walk Sept. 9 as part of the Pacific Resilience Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange field training exercise. The purpose of the vulnerability tour was to familiarize participants with different building typologies, observe the evolution of various urban developments and vulnerabilities that currently exist, as well as identify existing resources which could be invaluable during a disaster. The National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal conducted the tour. Pacific Resilience brings together civilian and military personnel from the United States and Nepal, as well as international stakeholders, to discuss emergency management, preparedness and response measures to an earthquake impacting Kathmandu Valley.
