U.S. Army Col. Matthew McFarlane, commanding officer of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, presented the Top Team Award to 1st Lt. Alan Saylor (far right), with Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry, 4-25 IBCT, hailing from Lexington, Ky., Pfc. Alex Kamps with Able Company, 3-509 PIR, from Madison, Wis., and Spc. Luke Polasik (not pictured) with Headquarters Company, 3-509 PIR, for their participation in the Spartan Sprint Triathlon competition that began and ended at Buckner Gym Sept. 7, 2013, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The triathlon consisted of a 300-yard swim, 12-mile bike route and 5 kilometer run. All military ID card holders were welcome and the first 100 registrations received a Spartan Sprint T-shirt.
