A new inspector-general is at the DSC, Maj Romey P. Smith Jr. Maj. Smith, sworn in on Sept. 7, completed the rigorous IG course in July. On the left, Lt. Col. Russell Gregory, from Nashville, Tenn., who is Senior IG for the DSC, is reading the oath of office, as is necessary for this position. Inspector-general is one of several viable staff members that ensure issues and problems are dealt with appropriately, if a soldier has a concern they believe has not been properly addressed through their commanders. The DSC, Birmingham, Ala., commands and supervises Army Reserve units for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), Scott AFB, Ill. The DSC Reserve units perform terminal, rail, deployment/distribution support missions and watercraft missions and functions throughout the world.
