The 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team commander, Col. Randall V. Simmons Jr., made opening remarks to Georgia employers of Guardsmen and state representatives invited to attend a combined arms live-fire exercise at Fort Stewart during the 48th IBCT's eXportable Combat Training Capability (XCTC) rotation. The visit provided an opportunity to local leaders and employers of Georgia to learn how Guardsmen use the organic weapons systems they have within their company or their troop, but also the capability of combined arms and immense firepower of an infantry brigade. XCTC is a battalion field-training instrument designed to certify company proficiency in coordination with First Army. A total of 2,300 Georgia Guardsmen, including soldiers from Canada and the United Kingdom, have converged on the regional training center at Fort Stewart, minimizing cost and time otherwise spent traveling to one of the Army's Combat Training Centers in Fort Irwin, Calif., or Fort Polk, La.
