For thousands of years the nomadic people of Central Asia have used yurts as mobile dwellings. The "door to the sky" or "tunduk" is at the very peak of the structure. The "tunduk" is used to control the temperature inside the yurt and release smoke from the fireplace. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Krystie Martinez)
