Rear Adm. Dietrich Kuhlmann, commander, Submarine Group 9, presents the Meritorious Unit Commendation award to Master Chief Machinist's Mate Perry Willis, Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Maine's (SSBN 741) gold crew chief of boat, and Senior Chief Electrician Technician Jon Miller, USS Maine blue crew chief of the boat, at the Marginal Wharf on Naval Base Kitsap Bangor. The sailors assigned to USS Maine demonstrated sustained superior performance at sea across the spectrum of strategic submarine operations culminating in an unprecedented 349 days at sea over a 14-month period.
