Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island

Recruits of Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, count and stack utility trousers at the depot laundry facility Sept. 30, 2013, during team week on Parris Island, S.C. Recruits ensure each article of clothing is accounted for while being washed and redistributed back to recruits in training. The depot laundry cleans and processes thousands of pounds of recruit laundry each day to ensure recruits have fresh bed sheets and clean uniforms. Team week, the sixth week of training, allows recruits to work on their own with minimal supervision and develop leadership skills while also providing a respite from the previous five weeks of constant training. Bravo Company is scheduled to graduate Nov. 1, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent for females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Lance Cpl. David Bessey)
