    7th Army Training Command

Brett Ritzmann, Training Support Specialist from 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command Training Support Center Baumholder, holds a train-the-trainer course on the Improvised Explosive Device Effects Simulator (IEDES) held at the Panzer Range Complex located at the Training Support Center Stuttgart on Oct. 9 2013 in Boeblingen, Germany. IEDES is programmed to be fielded and employed in a full spectrum of operations and conflicts by offering realistic detection and reaction training against IED threats. IEDES consists of wireless and manual tripwires and control devices to simulate the IED threat. IEDES includes a Module Control Unit, an Electronic Common Interface Device, a trip wire IED, booby traps and a suicide bomber's vest. The IED Effects Simulator (IEDES) kit will assist the Army in training the joint and individual service on operational support tasks, conditions and standards needed to achieve U.S. Military IED objectives. The IEDES is configured to simulate a small, medium, large, and extra large explosive signature. The IEDES is designed to train key tasks of Explosive Hazards (EHs) defeat, to predict, prevent, detect, classify, neutralize, mark, report and record EH; and to protect personnel, equipment and facilities from EH effects.
