U. S. Navy Ensign Douglas Ragsdale hands a silver dollar to Master Sgt. Lonnie Flores after receiving his traditional "first salute" at the University of Michigan here, May 3. Ragsdale was commissioned to his present rank along with 19 other Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Navy- and Marine-option midshipmen, officer candidates and Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) students. Flores is the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor for the unit. Ragsdale has been designated as a Student Naval Aviator and is currently undergoing training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla. (U.
