Graham Davis, Smithsonian Gardens horticulturist, shows Marines with Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., how to use a seed spreader in front of the National Museum of American History in Washington, Nov. 12. After the lesson, the Marines participated in the Flanders Field Project, where they spread seeds over the front lawn of the museum to recreate the poppy fields that blossomed on the war-stricken land of Europe in the aftermath of WWI.
