The USAREUR Headquarters building dedicated to LTG Geoffrey Keyes. The building was dedicated by LTG Donald M. Campbell Jr., CSM David S. Davenport Sr. and Mr. William Keyes Broughton, grandson of LTG Geoffrey Keyes.
LTG Geoffrey Keyes, a West Point graduate of 1913 served in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 1954. During LTG Keyes time in service he served in the Pancho Villa Expedition, and in World War II in both North Africa, and Sicily, Italy. LTG Keys retired from Army service in 1954 and died on 17 September 1967 at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC.
The building is believed to have once functioned as a club or mess for senior Luftwaffe officers during World War II. After the Kaserne was seized on 28 March 1945 by the 80th US Infantry Division, the building functioned as a offices for the command group stationed on Wiesbaden Army Airfield (WAAF). The building was extensively remodeled beginning 2011, it has since been renamed and dedicated as the Headquarters of USAREUR, which moved from Heidelberg in 2012 to Lucias D. Clay Kaserne, formally WAAF.
