Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island

Rct. Bradley Price holds a training bag as Rct. Juan Cisneros practices elbow strikes Nov. 14, 2013, during a Marine Corps martial arts endurance course on Parris Island, S.C. The course combined remediation of martial arts techniques with combat conditioning, simulating the stress they may later experience in combat. Price, 18, from Oxford Township, N.J., and Cisneros, 18, from Woodbridge, Va., are scheduled to graduate with Platoon 3005, Mike Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, on Jan 17, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Caitlin Brink)
