Petty Officer 2nd Class Gary Weaver, fire controlman, scans his area before allowing the visit, board, search and seizure team assigned to the guided-missile frigate USS Elrod to move forward to the bridge of Russian anti-submarine warfare ship museum Severomorsk as part of Exercise Northern Eagle 2008. Northern Eagle is a 12-day trilateral exercise involving the U.S., Russia and Norway in the Norwegian and Barents seas that focuses on maritime interdiction operations, search and rescue and tactical interoperability to improve maritime safety and security in Northern Europe.
