A pair of participants in the Gitmo Ironman Competition climb their way through the obstacle course at U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay's Marine Hill during the 5-mile obstacle run portion July 26, 2008. The competition, which consisted of teams of three and open to all personnel working on base, including Joint Task Force Guantanamo, also included a 3-mile canoe ride from the Marina and a 5-mile mountain bike ride along Ridgeline Trail here. JTF Guantanamo conducts safe and humane care and custody of detained enemy combatants. The JTF conducts interrogation operations to collect strategic intelligence in support of the Global War on Terror and supports law enforcement and war crimes investigations. JTF Guantanamo is committed to the safety and security of American service members and civilians working inside its detention facilities.
