U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Hugh Wetherald, commander of Amphibious Force 7th Fleet and U.S. Army Brig Gen. Kurt Ryan, commander of the 593rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), receive a brief from Rear Adm. Hisanori Sato, commander of the Japanese Joint Task Force, aboard the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force helicopter destroyer, JDS Ise (DDH-182), off the coast of the Philippines, Nov. 27, 2013, during Operation Damayan. During the operation, JTF-505 demonstrated the successful cooperation between partners in the Asia-Pacific, enabled by the forward presence of U.S. military assets.
