Douglas Peabody and Pearl Harbor survivor Ewalt Shatz view a display of artifacts from the USS Arizona (BB 39) and World Trade Center Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, during a Pearl Harbor Memorial Ceremony. On Dec. 7, 1941, Shatz was an 18-year-old seaman aboard the USS Patterson (DD 392). Last year, he was honored for having shot down a Japanese plane with a .50-caliber machine gun, the first time he had used one during the attack.
