The Coast Guard Cutter Marlin, homeported in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., patrols south of Pensacola Bay to support more than two dozen Vessels of Opportunity participants helping to corral and collect oil. These vessels, many of which are converted shrimp trawlers, are part of Task Force 705, a group trying to keep oil and tar off the beaches of the Florida panhandle. The Marlin and its crew of 12 are helping to spot oil slicks, direct cleanup efforts and provide command and communications support for the volunteer fleet. U.S. Coast Guard photo.
