Petty Officer 2nd Class Benjamin Ericson, playing the role of "ship's master" of the opposing forces during a visit, board, search and seizure exercise, kneels with hands behind his head while a member of the Brunei special forces provides cover during a simulated takeover of the pilot house aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard. Howard, along with the Brunei air force and Royal Brunei navy, are participating in South East Asia Cooperation Against Terrorism exercises off the coast of Brunei. Howard and the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group are on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility operating in the western Pacific and Indian oceans.
