Lt. Col. Geoffrey Barnes and Senior Airman Claudio Vela Jr., Detachment 1 46th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Attack Squadron, prepare to land an MQ-1B Predator unmanned aircraft Sept. 3, 2008 from the control room. The Predator is a medium-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft. Its mission here is to interdict and conduct armed reconnaissance against critical and perishable targets in support of the global war on terrorism. Barnes and Vela are deployed from Creech Air Force Base, Nev.
