In December 2013, the 1189th Transportation Brigade, Deployment Support Command, conducted SeaPort Operations Company 14-1 (SPOC) exercise at Joint Base Langley Eustis. As part of the joint nature of the exercise, members of the Naval Cargo Handling Battalion 8, of Fort Dix, NJ participated in SPOC. US Army SGT Michael Gray of 861st Quartermaster Co (Aerial Equipment Repair and Supply) of Nashville, TN, teaches a class in proper slingload procedure. He has Naval Information Technologist 1st Class Jay Herlihy present a Reach Pendant, a weight bearing connecting apparatus for different size loads.
