First lady Michelle Obama visited Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) on Dec. 19, 2013, to speak to the press and ask them to remind Americans that it is not too late to help make a needy child's Christmas holiday more joyful. As she has done in past years, the first lady delivered toys and gifts donated by White House staff members to the Marine Corps Foundation's Toys for Tots campaign. While at JBAB, the first lady visited with members of the White House Communications Agency, Toys for Tots volunteers and other military personnel. JBAB-based Marines coordinate the Toys for Toys program in the District of Columbia, which ensure that thousands of children have new, unused toys and gifts to unwrap on Christmas Day. JBAB fire and emergency services; public affairs, public works and DOD police personnel provided support and coordination for the first lady's visit. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Cmdr. Jim Remington)
