Joseph Winborne, a uniform fitter, adjusts the blouse of a recruit of Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, during his uniform fitting Dec. 11, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. The fitting marks one step closer for recruits who endure 13 weeks of rigorous training for the right to wear the Marine Corps' revered uniform. Winborne is a native of Beaufort, S.C. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate Jan. 31, 2014. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
