Marine Corps drill instructor Sgt. Carlos Arguello, native of Stevens Point, Wisc., motivates the East team athletes during the first day of practice for the 2014 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl game at Fullerton College in Fullerton, Jan. 1. Three drill instructors from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego are assigned to each team, holding the responsibility of instilling order, discipline, and motivation into the players for the duration of the bowl week leading up to the game. Drill instructors train civilians to become Marines, which includes ensuring Marines are mentally, physically and emotionally tough enough to handle and excel in wartime operations, and that is why drill instructors are assisting with the training during the bowl week. The game will be played at The StubHub Center Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. and will air on Fox Sports One.
