Capt. Shawn Found, chaplain, delivers the benediction at the Salute to Troops ceremony for the 12 soldiers and one airman of the Military Advisor Team (MAT) V was held at the New Jersey National Guard's Joint Military and Family Assistance Center in Bordentown, N.J., Jan. 4, 2014. MAT V's primary task is to coach, teach and mentor Afghan National Army (ANA) units, provide the conduit for liaison and command and control and, when required, support the operational planning and employment of the ANA. The New Jersey Army National Guard conducts Joint MATs with the Albanian Armed Forces, which build on State Partnership relationships with the Republic of Albania in order to demonstrate commitment and strengthen the alliance with the Albanian Armed Forces enabling them to contribute to future NATO missions.
