More than 100 guests from across California, including Marines from the Combat Center, honored Freeman Stokes for his dedicated service to the Marine Corps during a Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony at Banning City Hall in Banning, Calif., Jan. 25, 2014. Stokes was among the first African-American Marines trained at Montford Point in Jacksonville, N.C.
