Officers assigned to 7th Fleet command ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) look at the damage to Republic of Korea (ROK) corvette ROKS Cheonan (PCC-772). On Mar. 26 a non-contact homing torpedo exploded near the ship sinking it, resulting in the death of 46 ROK navy sailors. Blue Ridge is commanded by Capt. Rudy Lupton and serves under Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7/Task Force (CTF) 76, the Navy's only forward deployed amphibious force. Blue Ridge is the flagship for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. Task Force 76 is headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, with an operating detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
