The 2nd Marine Division was officially activated Feb. 1, 1941 at Camp Elliot, Calif., dropping its earlier designation as the 2nd Brigade. The 2nd Marine Division flag shows off a total of 15 streamers ranging from World War II in 1942 to the Global War on Terrorism today.
