The crew of an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit lands on the ice on Lake St. Clair while conducting ice rescue training with another helicopter crew Feb. 12, 2014. In addition to hoisting a distressed person directly into the helicopter, another ice rescue technique involves the helicopter crew landing some distance away so the rescue swimmer may walk to and retrieve the victim, but this is only practical when the ice is thick enough to land on.
