Marine Sgt. Alejandra Lopez, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (F2D MAW FWD) and Cpl. Nathan Campbell, Combat Logistics Battalion 6 (CLB-6), stand as weapons’ guards after being stranded at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) over night, recently, due to the severe weather conditions that grounded all major modes of transportation in North Carolina. More than 300 Marines were provided hotel rooms near RDU while Lopez and Campbell watched the weapons at the North Carolina National Guard’s 449th Theater Aviation Brigade Armory in Morrisville, N.C. The Marines, who recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan, were delayed in returning to Camp LeJeune and Cherry Point, N.C., due to the inclement weather.
