Hubert De Vos (left), Belgian Land Forces commander, talks to a soldier from the Royal Netherlands Army participating in Exercise Rampant Lion as part of the European Union’s Battlegroup 2014-02, Feb. 26, 2014. About 1,550 soldiers from Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia trained at the Grafenwoehr Training Area (Germany) in February and March 2014 for the upcoming European Battlegroup certification. The European Battlegroup serves as the European Union’s quick reaction force. Soldiers conduct skills qualifications in communication, cordon and search, convoy operations and compound security. The final certification is scheduled for June 2-13 at Saint Hubert, Belgium.
