An Alaska National Guard HH-60 Pave Hawk flight crew from the 210th Rescue Squadron hover 50 feet above the Pacific Ocean while a pararescueman from the 212th Rescue Squadron is hoisted up with a simulated victim. Lava Rescue training exercises included search and rescue operations performed at sea during the day, night training SAR missions, C-17 air refueling with the Hawaii ANG KC-135 Stratotanker, and C-130 static line and high altitude low opening air drops in support of the Marines and Navy.
