    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    An amphibious assault vehicle with Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, splashes out the well deck of the USS Ashland (LSD-48) during a night splash and recovery exercise, March 1. The 31st MEU recently embarked aboard the three ships of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) Amphibious Ready Group for their regularly-scheduled Spring Patrol.
