Master Sgt. Mark McArthur, the Marine Corps Recruiting Command Diversity Chief and a Jackson, Miss. native, speaks to the coaches of the men's and women's basketball teams from the 13 colleges and universities of the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference basketball tournament, March 8. McArthur spoke of the importance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and how the Marine Corps can work with the coaches and teams to motivate the players, such as the Marine Corps' Combat Fitness Test. The coaches and Marines met before the MEAC Youth Clinic, in which the coaches and Marines worked with nearly 100 young people from the Norfolk area Boys and Girls Clubs, teaching some basic warmup and exercise routines, as well as, basketball fundamentals. The event gave the coaches and Marines an opportunity to make a positive impact on the Norfolk community.
