Lance Cpl. Dennis K. Lester, a 22-year-old from Memphis, Tenn., a heavy equipment operator with HE Platoon, Engineer Support Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Naval Construction Regiment, helps guide a tractor, rubber tired, articulate steering, multi-purpose vehicle during a demilitarization operation along the Euphrates River, Sept. 23, 2008. Marines of 9th ESB were cleaning up the area by removing the military presence at the site that once served as a military checkpoint. Concrete barriers were cleared away leaving the area more accessible to the residents here.
