Lisa Franchetti, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Korea (CNFK) speaks of the “indomitable spirit of the Korean people” during a memorial service honoring sailors lost in the sinking of the ROKS Cheonan (PCC-772). Cheonan sank March 26, 2010 in the Yellow Sea after being struck by a North Korean torpedo. The lives of 46 sailors onboard were lost along with a Republic of Korea navy diver who died during the subsequent rescue efforts.
